Game Speed in Online Franchises?

I've read in a couple of places that there is no slow game speed when playing online franchises. Is that true, I like the slow game speed, maybe I'm old and my reaction time isn't what it used to be

Let me qualify, I don't have the time nor can I make the time to play in an online franchise, I have to play when life allows time. I was planning on starting a private one for just myself with 1 or 2 teams (1 NFC, 1 AFC), the rest being CPU-controlled. I like the way the stat-tracking in the online web app looks. That seems like a time-saver if I want to post a franchise. Of course my goal would be to eventually get both my teams to the Super Bowl.

But if I can't play at slow then I may scrap that plan and just play offline. I've tried normal in a game and got creamed...like I said maybe I'm getting old.
