Gems in Free Agency

I'm in week 13 in my season and one of the big things I am loving this year in Madden is that CPU teams are active during the season, both signing and cutting players. This has given me a chance to sign some players that just didn't have a spot on their team. Here are my "big" signings that have actually changed the way I play with my team.

Players signed:

FB Jacob Hester- Released by the Chargers because he was the backup for Mike Tolbert and wasn't be used. He can run and catch from the fullback position and gives me a dual threat out of the backfield with Ronnie Brown. My new favorite formation is Pat White in the shotgun with Brown and Hester lined up next to him.

TE Cornelius Ingram- Pass catching TE that fits nicely behind Anthony Fasano. Really stretches the defense for me in two tight end sets after never being used then released by the Eagles.

K Mason Crosby- 99 Kicking Power. He is a beast of a kicker. Unless the wind is going against him he almost always has touchbacks. One time he didn't and the return man broke my first tackle then got absolutely rocked for a fumble which I returned for a touchdown. I was really pumped and I went to replay to see who made the monster hit... It was Crosby! Haha I love it.

Nice, very realistic-looking free agent haul right there.

I also signed Sam Madison and Pat Surtain to backup Vontae Davis and Sean Smith. The old combo backing up the new combo.

I usually don't sign FAs during my season unless injuries occur. I like to keep the roster as true to life as I can until the offseason.

Same here. I actually have a rule in my chise that states that I can't sign anyone from free agency during the season that would represent an upgrade (in terms of OVR rating) to my current roster at a respective positions.

Teams in real life don't truely find upgrades to their roster in the middle of the season.

Marcus Tubbs and Derrick Brooks for me. Tubbs starts in my Lions franchise and has like 3 sacks in 2 games, and stuffs the run well. Brooks is used primarily as a sub, but he is still more than effective when he's in.

It is possible. A lower end special team db on one team could be a nickle back on another team

Yea Jacob Hester was like that for me. Polite is rated higher but I like using a Hester style fullback more. Plus it can't hurt that Hester has "A" potential.
