Re: The deep ball is too hard.

I use a custom slider set that is between all pro and all madden. I'm gonna try some deep passes on all pro default without P.A. I'm sure Russell and DHB will connect a few times.

vs BnR you have to watch what type of bump you are dealing with, cause there's about 3 or 4 types:

1. The insanely long bump (forget about this one, you're going to be sacked if you wait for it to clear)
2. The relatively normal bump (you have to wait until your WR breaks the bump and starts going upfield at FULL speed before you chuck it.
3. The bump where the DB wiffs on the WR, this is the best one obviously, the WR ends up with about 10 yards of seperatation.

Also the holding up on the L stick or taping it, I don't know if that really does much. I was able to go over the top with T. Brady to R. Moss vs a very slow CB using BnR without pushing up.. I just tapped the throw button and it worked.
I totally agree here. I've said a couple weeks back that if we don't get a new control or an old control back (user spectacular catch) than the deep ball will be useless again. Well once again i EA acts like my 6'3 Malcom Kelly can't hop more than 6 inches off the ground to catch a lob or fade. Its always the over the shoulder catch unless you can quickly manually turn your WR around and jump catch yourself. The defense has all the tools when the ball is in the air - swat ball, wrap swat, hitstick, and int (and they jump high like MJ lol).

If EA could give spectacular catch back the user and fix the run, pass blocking in patch 2 this would be the best football game I ever played.

Re: The deep ball is too hard.

the prob 4me is that the corner always runs slow in front of your WR and slows down the play. no flag is ever thrown and the safty can always catch up to the play reguardless of how open ur guy is when u throw.

Right the WR needs to run along side the CB and then surpass him if he is clearly faster, but he can't. You can take control and do that yourself but its too late because the QB throws it based on where he thinks you are going to end up based on your current situation, so taking control after the ball is thrown doesn't help at all.

That's why it only works vs BnR, cause that's the only time the WR is going to get along side the CB and then beat him deep.

Re: The deep ball is too hard.

I've noticed that if you throw to the side where the corner isn't playing coverage you can complete the deep ball at least when it's 1 on 1. So for instance if the corner is playing with inside leverage, denying your wr from cutting towards the middle of the field. If you throw a pass towards the sideline with the left stick and he should come down with it a fair amount of the time. Unfortunately, he probably won't get much yac because the corner will just tackle him right after he's caught it, but you can at least get a completion in 1 on 1 coverage.

Also, I think sliders have a lot to do with whether you'll get any deep ball opportunities. If the pass offense slider is set below 5 if my memory serves me correctly it will be difficult to complete long passes. The CB will just run in front of the receiver and you'll be unable to do anything about it.

Are you referring to NON BnR Man 2 Man coverage? If yes, then I'll certainly try that out.

No slider talk, I want this to work on-line

Re: The deep ball is too hard.

I also believe some people might be expecting QBs to bomb it deep who have no business doing so. Taking it deep with Peyton Manning? Super! Trying to launch a 50 yard pass with Pennington? Not a good call.
