Quick Throws

Situation: the other team is using a coverage with only one safety back or safties way deep and the DBs in press coverage.

I want to throw quick lead lob pass to my outside WR on a flag route. I want to throw the pass quickly after I snap the ball so that when my WR gets off the jam he can run under the ball and the ball will get there before a safety can come in. Problem is that if I try to throw a quick lob about 10-15 yards past the line of scrimmage the QB always ends up throwing a low pass instead of a lob.

I'd love to be able to hike the ball and quickly throw a lead lob pass at about the first down marker and take control of the WR and run under it but it just doesn't seem possible.
