How Does Defensive Spotlight Work?

Do I just spotlight the guy and he should be double teamed? Or do I have to do something else after the spotlight is initiated?

It just makes your defense pay more attention to him than anyone else.

Doesnt really work, the cpu always throws to the RB in the flats, so i always spotlight them and my linbacker who is suppose to be guarding him instead is off in la la land. Yeah spotlight alright.

Here's a question I've always wondered about and haven't seen asked yet.

If you spotlight the runningback on a running play, does this help? Almost like committing to the run, which is gone?

I'm sure it does. Spotlighting is not limited to passing plays I'd assume-- that'd be silly

Playing against the Pats, Wes Welker was tearing my defense apart. Brady kept throwing to him all the time. So I started to spotlight him and nothing really changed. He still kept hauling in passes play after play till I finally just assigned Derrelle Revis to cover him on every play. That seemed to work a lot better.

Spotlight doesn't work like it should. I remember back in madden 04 ps2 (or was it madden 06...) where I was able to shade the CB in a certain direction while in coverage.

If I thought the WR was going to do a curl, I would shade the CB down.

If I thought the WR was going to do an out route, I could shade the CB towards the sideline. I loved the risk-reward of this. Either you get an interception/deflection or you get beat... baaaaadly.

Please tell me somebody remembers that feature in madden. I hope I'm not the only one. I might be saying the wrong madden year but I still remember being able to do that. It was a hidden addition in coverage so not many people used it.

The spotlight feature does not work, yet another broken feature. Ive played people online who threw to the same back or receiver on EVERY play, spotlighting, manual assigning, nothing worked nor changed with the spotlight feature...
