I'm up by 14 in the 4th quarter, they score a TD to bring it within 7 with 3:56 left in the 4th. They decide not to onside, I'm thinking alright maybe they think their defense can stop me. They did on an INT.

However, I stop them and it's 4th and 5 with 1:42 left in the game and they punt? I don't understand where a punt would help in this situation. Has anyone else seen these kinds of questionable AI calls?

Did they still have all 3 timeouts? Maybe it's like a flaw in the game where they'll punt away if they still have 3 timeouts because they believe they can stop you and get the ball right back. No idea.

I see questionable A.I. decisions all the time.

Punting, play-calling, clock-managmenet. You name it, it's effed up.

cant remeber the score or who I was playing but the CPU scored a TD on me late to bring it within a one score game with under 2 mins left and they kick off instead of onsides. I remember I did need to get one 1st down to run it out so maybe they thought they could stop me?

1st decision is def the right one... that much time left you kick it off

not going for it on 4th however, not so much... idk where they were on the field, but it seems like they prolly should have gone for it

although assuming they had all 3 timeouts they would have gotten the ball back w/ at least like 1:20 to go if they stop you

so if they were deep in their territory its not a terrible decision if they have faith in their defense... guess it would depend on what team they were and field position if I would do that or not

I hate how if they are up by 7 or so at the 40 yrd line they will kick a fg instead of punting the ball deep and playing defense

3:47 left I kickoff and hope my D can step up. 4th and 5 w/1:45 left I am going for it no matter where I am on the field.

The cpu has questionable calls often.
For example: Its 4th quarter, in the last 2-3 minutes, they scored a td and it doesn't matter how the scoreboard is, they go for an onside kick.
Even if they are behind with 17 points ore something like that, they'll do the onside kick, even if its pretty obvious that the will never ever score 17 points in two minutes. Its just unrealistic.
