Can I play as a WR or RB in a single player game?

I believe last year I could hit circle to highlight another offensive player and run the play as him. Is there any way to do it in Madden 10?

Frankly, I'm trying to get the "Larry Stickfingers" trophy and I'm really struggling to get 10 user catches with Fitzgerald. I'm not sure how to do this without controlling him from the start of the play. Even on Very Slow I can't seem to pass with the QB and then switch to Fitzgerald before his catch animation is already being triggered. Also, there is no notification of a user-catch like there is for a user-pick, so it makes it tough to know if I'm doing it right.

Who can help me out?

I take it you mean control a WR or RB on a pass play...

And yeah you can... although to be honest, I've fogotten how. I did it by accident once I'm pretty certain.

I remember in 09 all you had to to was hike the ball while the red circle was on the player you wanted to control. However, with the 'lead blocker' mechanic being removed, I wasn't sure if I could still do this.

Now the question is just "HOW?"

I'd be happier if the instruction booklet actually had some sort of instructions in it. Or if there was some sort of online manual, or something... argh! ...why EA, why?

Why did they remove the feature to control the lead blocker. I actually enjoyed it.

I think there was a poll on this forum by Ian during the dev cycle. I believe that the player you were controlling got an unfair boost in blocking stats and was overpowered.

Sooooo.......... anybody know how to control somebody other than the QB to start a play in a single-player game?????
