Punt stats a little off.....

I've just noticed that in madden they kick the ball like 40-50 yards, but in real life i find them punting like 55-60 yards on occasion. Not a big deal just wanted to see wat u guys thinkl.

Key word here is "on occasion".

For the 2008 season, the entire range of punting averages went from 39.2 to 50.0.

Anyways thats why they have a punting slider available.....push up the power if you think they should have more....and the 39.5-50 sounds more like a net yard stat and not a gross yard....could be wrong though

Another thing about punting is that, unless it's a really short punt, there aren't a lot of guys that are downfield. I only noticed maybe 1 or 2 guys covering the punt with the rest of the team about 20 yards up field.

Nope, the NET stats range from 32.0-41.2.


Punts aren't that long usually. The announcers just usually mention it if it happened to be a 55 yarder, while they won't bother saying anything if it only went 45. The ball may go 60 yards in the air... but the stats count from the line of scrimmage, not the spot of the kick, unlike FGs.

Click it. Read. Yes, 65 yard punts happen. They aren't the norm.
