Thanks, that means a lot, for me creating a post like this reminded me all about the D players and what they are used for.
I really wish madden was as complicated as possible. with realistic attributes, that matter, like weight, height, strength etc.etc, I think that would make the D's in this game better.

I like to use a Miami 4-3, except with more blitzing.

Re: 3-4 vs 4-3...Differences and Explanation of Positions!!!

Thanks for the post. There's great info here and these are the kinds of threads I come here for.

I have a question about 3 - 4:

I've always used the Pats in Madden and I'm unsure what the real difference is between the different 3-4 formations they have in the playbook. The options are: Normal, Over, Under, Stacked, Solid.

I usually just go with Normal, as it's unclear to me from the little diagrams, what the real difference is.

Any tips on what scenarios I should choose something other than Normal?

Thanks!

Over and Under are good for changing angles on your blitz pressure as well as play a little stronger zone to the side where the OLB is on the line of scrimmage. If you think the pass will be to the flats on one side or the other - using over/under and a zone coverage can help with that.

Solid seems more focused on stopping both outside areas (left and right) while giving up some coverage in the middle. The blitzes tend to be on the outside as well so you can get pressure on stretch plays, sweeps, and pitches. It might could defend the screen as the LBs could get in the way of the flowing OL and disrupt the timing.

I believe Stacked is the one that gives the 4-3 look. Probably good for changing things up and working a more 4-3 style of defense. Might could confuse the other team by zone blitzing out of it as well, just like you would in the 4-3. Seems good if you have fast OLBs (and you should in the 3-4). With their hand on the ground and at the line, they can use their speed to get around a shorter edge than they would if they were blitzing from a usual 3-4 position.
