Active roster/practice squad?

Just starting my franchise, and i know in the real NFL they have players on the practice squad and they can sign these players to the NFL roster, or make certain players inactive...can we not do this in our franchise?? The reason i ask is i play w/ the falcons and i wanted to sign D.J. Shockley, but it says i don't have room on my roster? WTF is that, it's not like the falcons couldn't have kept him if they wanted to. So how can i get him on my team without releasing a player...like in MLB 09 the show, you could make players inactive... is this not an option here

Can't you release a scrub at one of your other positions? There is no practice squad. I know NBA 2K10 (not sure about Live) has D Leagues that players goto in My Player mode until they can play in the NBA. Would be cool to have your own practice squad to bring guys up from. I believe Miles Austin was on the Cowboys Practice squad before joining the team.
