Re: Obviously Bad Calls on Out of Bounds Catches

Yep, see this often - seems like something patch 2 did or made worse.

The challenge system is a waste of time (and a time out most of the time). It doesn't help that the AI hardly ever loses challenges (it always knows when it will be overturned it seems), and like others have mentioned, the lack of the OPTION half the time is insane.

EA, sideline possession IS reviewable ALWAYS unless inside 2 minutes...*sigh*

It's been said on these boards before than the toe dragging requires super high AWR to get it to trigger. Not sure how true that is, but since I hardly ever, if ever, seen it, it might be true. Does anyone happen to have a team of mostly very high (at least 90) AWR WR? Seen any different behavior in this regard if you do?

Re: Obviously Bad Calls on Out of Bounds Catches

Regarding challenging the play...that's a whole different issue.

I find most of the time, the option for me to do so, isn't even available. I've read other people post that you need to wait until you come to the line for the next play, but I find that more often than not this doesn't work and the option is still not available.

I'm also very careful in most situations to not check the replay as I know that will prevent the option to challenge from becoming available.

Regardless, played another game last night with three of these close calls (2 by me and one by the AI)..all were called incomplete, all were not able to be challenged and two of them should have been reversed. Though the situations were a little different and not as obvious as the one in my original post.

Absolutely no question about it, patch 2 has made this worse.

I have literally seen the receiver (both mine and the CPU) have FOUR feet in bounds with firm possession of the ball and the ball ruled incomplete with no challenge available.

So even if you are the greatest Madden 10 player in the world when it comes to getting your receiver open for sideline catches with two feet in, in the final two minutes of the game or half, the Madden 10 cut scene sideline refs will take your catches away.

Nice feature.

Yep, I was not even seeing this before the patch but have been seeing it a lot since patch 2.

Same here. So not only does Madden not have the animation where receivers tap their toes on the sidelines to get two feet inbounds, the also aren't ruled inbounds when they catch the ball and take 4-5 steps before hitting the sideline.

That and the horrid sim stats are two of my biggest gripes post-patch.

Re: Obviously Bad Calls on Out of Bounds Catches

The lack of sideline animation catches in this game is ridiculous. Can't count how many times I've seen recievers make a catch and take no less than 3 steps before going out of bounds and then the refs "confer" to rule it incomplete. The worst part is that even when it happens to the AI team, the computer apparently knows that it will not be overturned so they don't even bother to challenge the call. Better sideline animations are desperately needed for Madden 11.
