A solution for in-game advertisements

I still don't understand why the stadiums are covered with adverts for fake companies. Why not just have McDonald's, the newest XLA game, Snickers, Netflix, or whomever have banner ads throughout the different fields.

Not only this, but why not have things like EA Sports Backtrack become "The [name of advertiser] Backtrack," and have the halftime show be "The Extra Point: Brought to you by [name of advertiser]!"

This would add to the overall realism of the game, and would enable them to get rid of those annoying pop-up ads during the gameplay.

I like that, but they should have it be "Here is the Extra Point: brought to you from our sponsors" just so they can change it when needed like they do with the in-game ads and not worry about pre-recorded lines.

That makes sense. I just think there needs to be a more seamless integration of in-game advertising both for realism and revenue for EA (which at the end of the day is all they really care about).

The whole "Be a Chompion," "Patrick Chewing," "Statisfying" Snickers ads get really annoying after the zillionth play-through and would be better, IMO, by changing up the sponsors.

One thing I like about the NHL series are spots on the boards reserved specifically for ads that change when your system is online. So they can have different sponsors show up each game, day, week, etc.

Madden should at least try this. Sell some of those scoreboards spots as programmable ads that they can change whenever they want.

Re: A solution for in-game advertisements

The reason that in-game stadium signs are not sponsored by real-world companies is that those signs aren't sufficiently visible to players during the game to meet the marketing guidelines for these potential advertisers. The essence of the situation, as relayed by Ian Cummings himself, is that advertisers don't want to pay for something that's not going to be in your face all game long.

no need to charge them then. if you're just gonna put up fake adverts, then why charge MCDonalds anything? Again... if you see it on sundays...

To be honest, I just don't think it's that simple. EA can't/won't just insert itself into the role of de facto marketer for another corporation.
