Madden 11 Engine

Would anyone else like to see a new football engine? and if so what major problems would be fixed?

man i hate these threads. some people just don't get it. no offense, of course.

madden is built on multiple 'engines' which have each taken years to develop. you can't just replace an engine and fix madden. should there be changes? of course. but it's about tweaking and improving each engine. it's about development and building. starting from scratch would be a disaster.

unfortunately, i have a feeling madden will go in a drastically different direction. mike wang left nba live to go back to 2k, stating that EA was going in a different direction (away from sim). sure that's basketball, but i feel like we're going to get a different game of madden come august.

but again, 'engine' is a term thrown around too loosely.

I would like to have Backbreaker's tackling, footplanting and other stuff like that but I don't think there's a need to tear down the whole game by building a new engine.

Madden 10 was a solid game that was the first under Ian and co. I think with a year of polish and adding some new things, Madden 11 can be great (as long as the guys above are allowing them to stay in the right direction).

No need to rebuild the house, just have to add a couple bricks.

Yea, I know what you mean. I'm a complete sim player ( Even liked the Vision Cone). It just makes me mad that all the WR do is over the shoulder catches and only rarely do they do sideline catches.

A new "engine" at this point would be a terrible idea.

Agreed with kehlis. We'd be starting ALL OVER when there is finally a hint of progress towards the ultimate goal.

Yea, You have a point but I can't scratch the feeling of basically playing the same game every year with 1 or 2 new features, but with a lack of animations

Starting over with a new engine will not solve that for you. In fact it would make it worse...
