Kicker's Maximum Range Idea

On the way in to work this morning I had an idea that I thought would be a good addition to Madden. I'm not sure we've discussed it here so I thought I would run it by you guys.

How do you feel about knowing your kickers maximum range(of course it would be dependent on conditions) before every game. Often times when watching a NFL on Sunday's you see offenses fighting for every yard to get to their kickers maximum range he feels comfortable making a game winning kick.

From a presentation standpoint it's often depicted by a red line as the particular team is driving down the field. How do guys feel about this being incorporated in Madden? I think it adds another layer of strategy to the game from all three sides of the ball.

Re: Kicker's Maximum Range Idea

I hate the fact that Phil Dawson can't kick a 50 yard FG in Madden but IRL he has kicked numerous from 50+.

The kicking game needs to be tweaked a little bit.

They did a nice job making FGs a little tougher in M10 but they really need to make it more realistic on all levels.

Here are some stats from the Reg season - no kicker was 100% with a decent amount of attempts.

Re: Kicker's Maximum Range Idea

To me, it wouldn't add anything. A kicker's maximum range is a coach's best guess, based on the leg strength of the kicker and the conditions. The red line on tv is just for the fans. I don't believe Bill Belicheck is buzzing his staff upstairs and asking if they reached the red line yet. We already have what we need to guess at this. There are things I'd like to see addressed in Madden, but this one doesn't make my list. Just my two cents.

Re: Kicker's Maximum Range Idea

What about a "Kicker Confidence" meter? If a kicker has made a few decent kicks in a row, he should feel better about kicking a long FG. If he misses an easy one or it gets blocked (something that needs to happen a little bit more in Madden) his next attempts should be less confident and therefore more difficult.

Now that one I love!

Re: Kicker's Maximum Range Idea

I want the CPU to kick FG's based on the players ratings without any user input outside of selecting "kick FG". This way, we get an accurate representation of kicks made. Right now, I'm nailing 60 yarders with a kicker in my online franchise easily. That's ********. If they don't implement the best system ever (APF) they should just have the CPU kick it based on ratings in my opinion. How many playoff games were decided by FG's this year? A lot... they aren't gimmes like they are in M10.

Re: Kicker's Maximum Range Idea

Like Kasey said, they need to either steal the kicking system from All Pro Football (best kicking system ever) or just take it completely out of the user's hand.

Because of how stupidly easy the current kicking system is, you can bomb career-long kicks with anybody in this game at about 90% accuracy.

Guys with 99 kick power can even hit 60-yarders without breaking a sweat.

I cannot even remember the last time I missed a kick in this game. Probably was sometime during the first week of playing.

Once you realize how easy the system is and know your kicker's maximum range, you will never miss.

thats ignorant... kickers go out before the game in warmups and test their legs out to see how far they can kick it that game, you don't think the coach's know how far they have to get to get inside the kickers range?
