I don't remember that being the case, but they may have changed that for Madden 08 and it is all just bluring together in my mind. I know at least in 08 they could have more than one role, it's just that the top two were the only ones you would see. you're right, it is a while back. but i believe that 08-09 had player weapons, not player roles. weapons ranked the highest rated attributes to the lowest in the allowed rating range (usually from 91-99 and some weapons started in the upper 80s).

but since i been on my ps3 since it came out, i can't really play last-gen games. but the other day i thought i saw that 08 still have player roles or something like that, and maybe that's what you're talking about. i'm not completely sure on this, it could've been a dream lol

08 started the weapons stuff, but that was different than roles. Maybe where that also get a little fuzy. I can't remember for sure, but possibly they had both. I just remember playing 07 a TON and 08 a little and getting my 360 and being disapointed. It is very possible that Bryant Young had the Player roles of fan favorite and NFL icon on my team and the player weapons of run stuffer, etc. I know in 08 Patrick Willis had "1st Round Pick" and "Future Star" roles and also had player weapons [the one with the hammer] and was an 86OVR rookie. I also remember him fighting Derick Smith for the starting MLB role in a 3-4. that was always silly how Madden never takes the 3-4 serious. The #2 DT never saw any play and was mad in a 3-4 and the #2 MLB didn't care if he ever saw play or not because in a 4-3, they wouldn't. That was a funny part about the "attitude" feature in last gen. 3-4 teams always got screwed.
