Anyways nice job with the chart Val. Current gen HD console version (360 and PS3) sales are increasing though they are not close to how sales were last gen and it's more than likely due to the fact that the 360 & the PS3 aren't selling as well as the PS2 did in it's prime.
Or maybe the games just aren't as good? Hmmmmm... I think so!

We went from 1.46 units to 2.33 units, therefore sales overall have gone up on that platform during the time frame we're reviewing. When you look at the Sony numbers...wtf happened to Sony? 4.46 units on the PS2 to 1.85 on the PS3. Even if you add in the .87 units still going out on the PS2 the Sony numbers just don't make any sense.
PS3 version was behind Xbox360 version until madden 09. Madden 08 on PS3 played at 30 fps vs Xbox's 60fps. I think this has something to do with it as well as PS3 being more expensive than the other consoles. As a playstation guy I personally bought madden twice in 08 and 09. Once on PS3 and once on PS2 once I realized how bad it suicked, lol.

Nice graph and numbers.

No data for the DS or the Xbox for 2010. The PSP took a hit from 09 to 10.

The economy might have had something to do with the drop off from 09 to 10, but I will say I'm sure there are other factors as well as has been discussed previously.

I think they put the Madden Challenge on the PS3 to boost sales for it.

Nice work, Val. Very professional.

Not sure about the professional aspect, as I just noticed that I said it was 5 years of sales, but 2005 through 2010 is actually six years of sales. I apparently struggle with arithmetic.

They didn't make 2010 for the Xbox. Pretty much as soon as the Xbox360 came out, Microsoft stopped supporting the Xbox, so nobody else supported it either.

Nice find Val! I'm going to analyze these a bit and see what I come up with.

I would be interested to see how those numbers compare with the video game industry as a whole during the same period.
