EA has simply become complacent.
Casual player is not a hardcore player. That is, people who don't give a crap about tiered defensive play-calling,other ridiculous real stuff like 80 man pre-season squads. And 100% authentic broadcast presentation.

Nobody besides the hardcore cares that presentation isn't 100% like on tv.

Re: Did ian have a shot?

I really don't believe that not buying the game will make it better. The focus these companies have is...if it isn't making big bucks, get rid of it." I feel like we are stuck with Madden or nothing. Even if the Madden franchise were dropped and another company came aboard, it would be just about like starting over. I may be overly pessimistic but I think we are going to "get what we get" and live with it for better or worse.

Re: Did ian have a shot?

this topic is a waste of time. Seriously, if you think the game is bad, then don't buy it. I think the game is fine and every year thier are improvements that interest me enough to buy it.

thole whole Ian this and Ian that is really a waste of a topic. I have watched the vids from e3 and i think the gameplay is better than last year. The game looks better and plays better than last year, so what more do you want.

the game can always be better in some areas. most of that thinking is based on the opinion of each individual. In the end for the most part EA gives us a good product . maybe not great , but a good product.

When you start to understand that maybe not everyone thinks that it is even a good product, you will cease to ask questions like what more do you want.

This has more to do with complacency than its does with targeting the casual gamer.
i dont really play either of those but i think they are far more easier to pick up and play so they have to go as far to reach the casual gamer madden has alot of plays and they think people get overwhelmed

Re: Did ian have a shot?

i think people like myself are more upset that franchise has been basically untouched for 6 years now while we've got these modes like rewind, virtual trainer, and now gameflow but i still cant even practice with my franchise team.

FIFA at least for me is no more so a pick up and play game than Madden. In fact I'd say FIFA is more detailed and more "user required input" game than any other.

Sure you can just run around and hit pass or shoot... but really can't you just run or pass in Madden?
Lot more to the soccer game than you think.
Different sets/pieces, strategy etc...

Frustrating....NHL/FIFA sure as heck arent aimed at casuals...not by a long shot...If anything those games turn away casuals...Thats where madden should be...The casuals have the Wii and they can keep that.
I agree. Ringbuilder, Madden IQ (I wanted to throw up when I saw the ad touting Madden IQ as a way that a man's 10 year old daughter could play), "Ask Madden 2.0", "more accessible", etc., it just keeps going.

Their focus first and foremost is the casual, and EA has not been shy about that.

Regarding Ian though, I agree with those who say his demeanor during the EA infomercials was interesting. It made me wonder if he's not happy with this year's title himself, but can't say so for obvious reasons.
