Re: For those having trouble with Defense, are you using the Def Assist button?

The A.I. defense is simply not hard enough, it is too easy to score 40 plus every game, The pass and run react sliders for the computer are always at 100 and Ive tried all kinds of variations of user sliders until it is ridiculously unrealistic and theres at least 10 dropped passes a game.

The only way I can think to truly rectify this problem so there are a wide range of difficulty levels so you appeal to a wide range of people is this:

USE NCAA 11'S METHOD OF SLIDERS!!!!!!!

Rookie has its own slider set
Pro has its own slider set
All-Pro has its own slider set
All-madden has its own slider set

All sets are 0-100 within there difficulty level!!!

This would appeal to the hardcore as well as the "casual" gamer and if you want it arcade than so be it, with this wide of a range you you have a much greater chance of finding the settings that you personally find realistic no matter what your skill level!!!! C'mon Madden team NCAA has totally outdone you this year!!!!

Also, I am having MUCH more success using the swat button for pass coverage than the INT button. If you are in position, the swat button will intercept the ball.
is it X for PS3?

(i'm not near my manual)

This.

Atrocious responses by AI controlled defenders in zone, as well as reaction to the pass that's in the air, and finally any CPU controlled ball carrier will ALWAYS break AT LEAST the first tackle, if not the first 2 or 3 tackles EVERY TIME without fail.

I've watched Pierre Garcon truck over Patrick Willis and Taylor Mays, after making a leaping catch over the middle, and break off for a 60 yard TD, and amass a total of 200 yards receiving BEFORE HALFTIME.

THAT'S the problem that I have with defense.

I just started using this in my franchise a few games ago. What I ended up doing was playing the slot cornerback, and making sure that the slot receivers don't kill my defense. It has worked out really well, and it keeps the game really fun because it's challenging. I hold down a for a second or two after the snap and then take control of the corner.

Maybe, but it probably counters the offensive player's ability to "zig-zag" fairly.

Putting Auto-sprint back on helped me, i kept over-pursuing the ball carrier, and for some reason without "Auto-sprint" my players seem to tackle better.

Feels like the Computer is like All-Madden in Madden 10, which to me i had alot of fun with.

Nope. It's not like you're just running around holding "A". It just helps you from over running plays. You're still moving the player and the assist button is for a lack of a better word helping your defender square up. Kinda like basketball games where you can't stay in front of the ball handler without the assist.

Up your pass defense react time. It works.

Tackle issue. Use assist. Won't see all of the broken tackles. Cpu controlled ball carrier rarely breaks a lot of tackles. Manual switch to the tackler and don't hit stick or dive. Use "A" button. Problem solved.
