For those having trouble with Defense, are you using the Def Assist button?

I'm just curious, to the people who are having problems with defensive players affected more by locomotion than offensive players, are you using the defensive assist button? I'm having alot of success using the def assist button as my tackle button. Ill user right up to the point of making a tackle, and then ill hit the def assist button to bring them down.

Also, I am having MUCH more success using the swat button for pass coverage than the INT button. If you are in position, the swat button will intercept the ball.

I agree, even though I am still dive tackling out of habit from prev years, "A" is the button on choice, not hit stick or X, when taking down a ball carrier.

Swat button FTW in pass defense (what there is of it).

I thought swat and interception were the same this year?

Funny. I just figured this out last night. Couldn't stop the cpu run game on default all-pro. But upping anything on run defense (react/break block) 1 point made my defense overpowered. Using the A button puts you in proper position and essentially serves as a tackle button and the cpu runners will still get yards realistically. Backs and receivers aren't breaking as many tackles either.

I'm not using def assist, but then my problems with pass defense are with AI controlled defenders not adjusting fast enough to receivers, or just flat out looking lost in space (should find someone to cover).

Thanks for the tip but it's a little disheartening that you have to press a button and have the computer take over your player for your to get some semblance of a realistic outcome.

Exactly. It's as though we're not really even playing the game by using the assist button. It takes zero skill and effort. When I make a stop, I want to feel like I made the play..not the CPU.
