Uncapped Year 1st Season In Madden 11?

I'm playing with the Panthers in my Franchise; and they 60 something million in cap space. I also noticed that when you release a player there are no cap penalties. Is this due to this being an uncapped year in the NFL? I was amazed that Carolina had that much cap space and there were no penalties. I had to cut guys in order to sign guys due to substantial injuries on my team.

yeah every team has outrageous cap space. I think its because they couldnt fix the problem with players demanding so much money in free agency so they just gave us more money

Based on my reading online and from playing the game, there is still a salary cap in Madden 11. They could not come up with a way to duplicate real-life factors that prevent teams from spending ridiculous amounts of money on players, so they left the salary cap in. Just so you know, you won't see a cap penalty (i.e., what is left in the player's signing bonus) when you drop the player. Cap penalties are assessed at the beginning of the NEXT season.

I have to say this first and foremost... GO HEELS!!!!

But on a non-college b-ball shout out, I gotta say that the Panthers do have ridiculous cap space but there are cap penalties, but they are only present when you release a player that have a signing bonus as the Cleveland fan above said.

I think there are still cap penalties, but I believe they don't occur until after the first season is over.
