Running Game: Pulling Linemen, Fullback

So I've been running some counter plays (specifically 2 back counter weak plays) and IMO the guard and fullback go too far down the line. It looks like they are running a sweep. IMO the guard should turn up field much quicker, but he never does. In fact one time I ran a counter, the guard just ran down the line and stopped, never blocking anyone. Of course I should point out that there was no defender unblocked within about 5-10 yds, but he still should have headed up field.

I didn't state this in the first post, but I've run power o plays in practice mode (offense only), because I wanted to get better running them. At some point the fb and pulling guard just stop. IMO this is the exact same spot that, while live, these players finally make a decision on who to block.


edit: Not many people seem interested so I'm not going to bump this again. I wrote somewhere that I thought that on counter plays the OL pulls too far. I've shown replays to a brother of mine who played a bit of OL and he thinks it's fine, so I'll drop that particular issue.

I hate this. It makes it HARDER to set up blocks. I wish they would unglue the linemen from the ball carriers.

I head in that ESPN interview posted yesterday that they get all the game footage sent from the NFL...

If they take a look at Lawerence Vickers' blocking this preseason they will get a better idea of how great blocking FBs should be blocking in game.
