CPU Refuses to Win
I've become frustrated with Madden 11 Franchise Mode. I cannot seem to lose games that I should lose and the CPU seems to hand me games consistently. I am not a great player, I consistently get my head bashed in online. I have custom slider settings all somewhere between All-Pro and All-Madden. My passing accuracy is around 5, and the only real advantage I give myself is to tone down the CPU broken tackles that are super-human on All-Madden. Here are some details:
* Playing a Bills re-build franchise... or so I thought. I started by trading away Lynch and Edwards for picks and started rookie Levi Brown at QB for all games. I added no free-agents despite having lots of cap room. I hoped to have a bad season and get a high draft pick. Fred Jackson had a pretty good season (1100 yards) and CJ Spiller was a stud wherever I played him. Brown struggled, as a rookie QB should and only had a passer rating around 70. I played every game.
* I finished 9-7 and won several games inexplicably. I beat the Vikings despite Favre throwing for nearly 400 yards and the Bills having only 125 yards of total offense. I also swept the Jets despite Green and Tomlinson each getting 100 yards in one of the games.
* I entered the playoffs as the last wild-card (maybe a lucky bit of realism as some seemingly bad teams do sneak in... but come on... it's the Bills). At this point I had lost Evans, Posluzny, and two O-lineman to injury for the season).
* I fell behind to the Patriots 24-0 at the half in the first playoff game. I felt like this was realistic, as they had swept me in the regular season. After the half Welker got hurt and Brady became a bum. He threw two interceptions and Maroney fumbled twice. Their defense, which had held me to 25 total yards in the first half, could not stop my run or pass. Fred Jackson rushed for 100 yards in the 4th quarter and I scored 21 points in that quarter on my way to a 34-27 win.
* In the 2nd round of the playoffs I faced the 1st seeded Colts. They proceeded to take a 21-0 lead with Manning throwing all over the field. Venetieri missed a first half gimme field goal. In the 2nd half Manning continued to slice and dice my defense but I kept getting 3rd down stops inside my red zone. Venetieri continued to miss easy field goals.... 3 in the second hald, all within 40 yards. I slowly climbed my way back into the game thanks to THREE Colts fumbles and tied it at 24 all. The Colts took my kickoff with 2 minutes left and Manning proceeded to easily work the ball to my 45. That's when the Colts ran three straight runs into my line for 1 total yard. They then punted and trapped me at my own 1 yard line. I barely managed to get out of my endzone with Spiller and still had 2nd down at my own 1. The CPU didn't bother to use any of its 3 remaining timeouts and let me run the clock down. The Colts then won the toss and went 3-and-out. They went 3-and-out three times in Overtime, the CPU seemingly biding its time until I finally got into field goal position to win the game.
I don't know what to do to get realistic results. I play every game and the statistical results are actually fairly realistic. I gave up a ton of yards with a crappy defense and had some moderate offensive success. My only complaint is that the CPU seems to go out of its way to put me in positions to win. I'm not trying to lose games, but I'm not cheesing either. I use Gameplan to call my plays about 90% of the time. Anyone have suggestions or similar experiences?
