Actually it doesnt...not like last year where it was almost a necessity..i havent seen the qb 's knees fall out from under him annimation this year..i find when diving i end up flying past the qb..im not sure if this is due to over compensating with auto strafe...also ..the ball strip/fumble causes me to miss or tumble at times...the defensive assist works the best

I use gameflow a lot and every other play is a blitz, lol. I get tons of pressure/sacks (but I try to audible out of double cb blitzes, heh)

Don't blitz for sacks. Sacks lead to punts and a loss of about 35-40 yards of field position.

Blitz for hurries. Hurries = Bad throws. Bad throws = INT Opportunities.

It feels nice to hit the QB, but it feels better to get possession on a turnover...

But this is just my opinion... I'd rather have a day with 0 sacks and 5 turnovers, than 5 sacks and 0 turnovers.

Meaning it's worth blitzing even without the sacks.

Re: Does it even make sense to blitz the qb?

My advice.... think about the number of blitzers and the location of the blitz. I have found that blitzing 1 or 3 is the answer in Madden. Blitzing 1 still leaves you decent coverage, but doesn't let the qb just stand there all day like a 4 man no blitz d line rush. Blitzing 3 brings some real pressure for the right situation (short yardage, long yardage), but it leaves you with little coverage of course.

I have noticed many times when you blitz 2, you get average pressure and average coverage. That just doesn't cut it in Madden. You get the situation you described, you don't get the QB and you are exposed on D.

As I said, also pay attention to where the blitz is coming from. There are many concepts such as overloads that can do some damage.

Yeah I blitz a ton with the dolphins (my favorite is the silver "something" overload blitz out of 2-4-5) and against bad qbs the rush causes a ton of floaty, missed throws that can cause ints or punts. I don't blitz at all in ncaa though.
