Re: Madden's Most Valuable Positions

I would go with QB, it is the most important to me.

Tight End is my most used reciever but i don't need a high overall, just a fast 1 because he will always get open, also, my first reciever doesn't have to be that good he just has to have good release because i only use my #1 reciver for quick routes. My #3 will actually catch more balls then my 1.

On offense a strong slot wide receiver.

On defense a SS especially since like running a 46 defense. After my Safety I like a good LE and MLB... those are the three players I user control on defense, MLB, LE, and SS.

Re: Madden's Most Valuable Positions

Definitely slot receivers on offense. Playing with Hasselbeck and You as my QBs, which mandates short - medium throws mainly. My 3rd and 4th WRs get a lot of passes on slants or drags. And echoing PGaither's CIT skills, I slant/drag Houshmanzadeh all game long. He's not quick enough to break down field but his catch/ CIT skills have saved my weak accuracy lots of times.

I've found on defense the LB/CBs to be most important. Seattle's got great starters but it unravels quick after that... In my NFL 10 franchise I had 8 LBs all with a minimum OVR of 75, the average being high 80's. Wilson (!) and Trufant signed for mega-dollar contracts but it didn't matter. Playing 3-4, I could starve the CPU team for points early, then sit in zone and wait for the desperate passes to pick off in the second half.

Re: Madden's Most Valuable Positions

gotta be SS or MLB.

Both control the field, stop runs and have good pass D.

CBs IMO. If you got four good ones the CPU rarely will get WRs open, and you can blitz all day

I mostly play Ultimate Team.
The most important positions for me are QB, RB, and CB, and good blitzing LB is important too.
But the most important position for defense in this game is definitely CB, you need about 3 solid CB's to have a competent defense online.

Word, the same thing online. 3 good CB's, with a blitzing LB is sacks and ints all day. Its fun to watch.

Re: Madden's Most Valuable Positions

I must have a franchsie QB when I draft my squad. First and foremost.

Second I must have an elite WR.

Third a lockdown CB

4th a franchise LT

5th a dominant MLB

6th a cog in at DT (I run a 3-4 defense)

7th a serviceable 3 down RB

8th a good pass rushing OLB or DE

After that I am going best player available. It all depends where I am picking but normally. But the first 2 rounds I am going elite QB, Elite WR 90% of the time unless a Chris Johnson or Adrian Peterson falls into my lap. 3rd round it is lock down CB. People seem to overlook that LT position sometimes. It makes a huge difference.
