Re: Madden and PS3 red light of Death!
I am not a 100% sure about certain games causing the issue, because mine went down last year playing Madden 10 (pretty much the only game I played). I searched around and found a tutorial on how to open it up. The power supply itself is not too expensive relative to paying Sony to fix it or buying a new one, and if you're motivated, it's not too difficult to do it yourself. I've seen the supply around for under $50.
For me, this was my second PS3 that went down in the space of a year and a half, the first had a disc drive issue -- I was playing NCAA 08 at the time -- so I pretty much lost my motivation, especially with Sony basically giving me the finger and not being able to answer my question as to why I should continue to sink money into their system.
