Andrew Luck would be the better QB for your franchise

Re: Which QB to take for my Franchise?

Gah, I was ready to take Locker and just go through the first few years with less accuracy that I would have had with Luck, but now I'm having second thoughts. I was excited early on about Locker's Speed, but when I think about it I don't usually run with the QB (I have 2 good recievers in Megatron and Dez Bryant, and I'm hoping to add Justin Blackmon in next year's draft), so Luck's better accuracy will probably be a lot more useful.

As far as potential goes, Locker has better potential. Locker's little potential bar is completely full while Luck's is only about 95% full, but I'm still probably going to take Luck now.

But does THA matter? It's an arbitrary number. The numbers that matter are Short, Medium, Deep, and Throw on the Run. What are those numbers?

Exactly. THA is typcially indicative of a QB's various accuracies (i.e. higher THA usually means higher SAC/MAC/DAC), but the key word here is typically. I just had the 2011 NFL draft, and the 20-point difference in THA between Locker and Luck was pure myth. Here's how the two shook out (I chose Locker with the 5th overall pick, and the Cardinals chose Luck with the 13th overall pick):

Jake Locker vs. Andrew Luck
5th Overall Selection 13th Overall
84 OVR 80
90 Speed 75
83 Agility 72
89 Acceleration 78
55 Awareness 67
80 Strength 70
82 Elusiveness 67
96 Throw Power 95
91 Short Accuracy 74
75 Medium Accuracy 88
88 Deep Accuracy 86
88 Throw on the Run 76
86 Play Action 82
89 Stamina 81
93 Injury 90

For anyone who is interested, here are the stats for Luck and Locker through the first 6 weeks of the season (both teams have had their byes, so both QBs have only played 5 games).

Jake Locker: 102/165, 62% comp, 1053 yards, 6 TDs, 6 INTs, 83.5 QB rating

Andrew Luck: 80/180, 47% comp, 1061 yards, 6 TDs, 8 INTs, 54.7 QB rating

That's interesting that Luck's deep accuracy is so much higher than his short. In fact, looking at this both their short, deep, and middle accuracy broken down, I don't get why there's a 20 point difference.

Looking at Dianwei32's stats through 6 games, I'm wondering if Patriot1s996 is right, that the numbers don't mean anything.

I think it's because the import from NCAA is fairly random.
