Of all the many additions to franchise mode, this is one of the ones that intrigues me most. But I've never seen it done before, since I never played previous versions or old gen where this was possible.
So, in the old implementation, how did it work? What was the menu & choice tree? On offense, was it something like:
- pick formation
- pick play type (run, pass, play action, etc.)
- highlight player position and assign route (screen, post, slant, etc.) or assignment (blocking assignment)
- repeat for each skill position
- assign blocking scheme for line
I'm just trying to visualize how this works.
Also, I'm curious about the possibilities for routes to assign. Were there more options than just the options presented in the audible menu? In other words, can you assign comeback routes, slant and go, motion routes, posts, hitches, corner routes, wheel, etc?
One of the things that has me stoked about this is the potential to create plays for your personnel. So, I'm a Giants fan, and they have no plays or schemes to make use of an H back type like Beckum, a TE who can't block but who can catch.
So, if I don't like his value on the trade market and can't find any decent bocking TE replacements more suited to the standard Giants offense, maybe I create some plays or packages to make better use of him or even Boss as pass catchers. Also, as the franchise changes over time, and say, Eli is no longer QB, maybe I have a new system I can create tailored to my evolving offense.
I know no one can tell what it will be like for M12, but anyone who can talk about how create a play worked in its last implementation, my guess is it won't be far off.
Thanks.
