Re: Stat Banners: The Good and the Bad

I started a drive after the 2 min warning with the Pack in the demo down by 6. A stat banner came up saying Rodgers has led 3 game winning drives in his career, exactly when it would have appeared in real life. It was awesome timing, small thing, but got me pumped up and immersed in the game that much more. More hopeful for Madden's future now than I have been in a long while, not perfect, but most definitely headed in the right direction after years of spinning wheels.

Show me the stats on how often my team wins when my primary running back gets 25 or more carries.

Show me the stats of how often I lose when my #1 receiver gets less than 2 catches a game.

Show me the stats throughout my franchise mode of how often I lose to a division rival in December, or how well my QB plays in warm weather compared to cold weather, or the career numbers showing my QB's ability to complete passes down field versus short and intermediate passes.

I also want stat banners that compare my players in franchise mode to those of NFL history. If I draft a rookie QB, show me his stats at the end of the year compared to when Big Ben when he was a rookie. Or when Troy Aikman when he was a rookie.

If my running back breaks 10,000 yards in his career, show me the stats that say how many games it took Jim Brown, Emmitt Smith, and LaDanian Tomlinson to accomplish the same feat.

Great ideas...Madden 11 kind of did historical references to a smaller degree. I always found it funny when they mentioned you passed Madden Announcer Chris Collinsworth in as stat banner

They had that in previous Madden's as well. But it is another solid banner

Re: Stat Banners: The Good and the Bad

Also, I feel like this year (in the demo anyway) Stat banners come up after replays more often than before. So if you tap A to skip a replay or cut scene you wont get any banners. I personally think it might be better to have the stat banner pop up first than show a replay second...Maybe even have the Banner showing while the replay is going

I just like to get a feel for whats on going on in my game and season, stat wise without always having to hit pause and go to stats.

This is what I was talking about for team comparison...I would prefer something more in depth (Yes, I know it is form the other game, but I couldn't find a real life clip to cut out)

They had that exact comparision in M09.

Re: Stat Banners: The Good and the Bad

I say the more stat banners, the better!! I realy hope they are shown more frequenly then in the demo. So far the only stat banner I've seen that really wowed me and was new was a QB comparison one that showed both qbs stats so far in the game.

Stat banners I'd like to see:
- When the starting offence/defence line-ups are show and a player is marked as one to "watch" I'd like to see some of his stats to see why he stands out.
- More defenisive season stats. I dont ever remember seeing stats for sacks, ffs, int, tackles etc.
- At the beginning of the game: More team to team comparison stats, scores of last three head to head meetings, division standings, league leaders (if any) on either team, if its a division-clinching or playoff elimination game. etc etc... Not all at the same time obviously but different stats at the beggining of every game so it remains fresh.
- Scores of out of town games: Big games or games featuring division rivals. Other games should be played at the same time, not simed right before you enter your game.
- Lists of league leaders that feature a player from one of the teams in it.(This is done in NBA2k11) ei. if Brady is second in the league in passing yards I want to see a list of the top ten with him highlighted.

QFT.

For the first go around (really) with modern presentation, I think the banners are pretty solid -- well the story will be told as we play the retail.

But without a doubt, I want to see this level of detail in the stats in the near future. Show us trends, and all that good stuff. Show me how my star CB doesn't give up any TDs. This is the stuff that the commentators highlight on TV to illustrate to the casual viewer how good a player is -- even if his name doesn't show up the stat sheet.

They need more "X team wins this often when Y player gets this many (receptions, carries, TD)." Also stats by season and month are nice too.
