So instead of having 88 increments, I now have 100 increments. That changes the numbers at the top and bottom...for 17190 players. That means I have to re-calculate approx 860000 individual numbers...that's right, almost 1 MILLION numbers. That, to do it correctly, takes a long, long time. How do I know? Because I have done it once before already.
For a human yes. For a computer that is about 1 millisecond.

The whole point in them contacting me was because they felt I did great work, for free, nonetheless and they felt that I could help make their system better. The phone interview lasted over an hour and we exchanged a TON of ideas on who we rate players. Got to have a great chat with Donny about all this. I didn't get the feeling that he used any legitimate data outside of opinion. The stuff I post is SOLELY based on real NFL scouting data. I am simply interpolating from the sources I have. If you disagree, feel free to contact NFLDS and take it up with Frank Cooney. If they weren't good at what they do, they would not provide all the data for Lindy's and CBS. Just saying.

As for "I'm not hating", THIS post sounds pretty darn hateful and an attempt at a flame:

"I'll cross my fingers and hope to hell it doesn't happen."

Come on man, you can disagree but to try to antagonize a flame war? That's pretty immature.

I have taken SEVERAL. If you did, you would realize that you don't need as much power behind a throw to get maximum distance if the angle of incidence is optimal. This is covered by several theories of projectile motion.

Precisely. The angle of incidence had a lot to do with that I am sure. I played college ball with a kid who could throw a football close to 60MPH on a rope within about 30 yards, but his mechanics were so bad he couldn't get it out more than 50 yards.

Madden has enough problems right now, it doesn't need even more inaccurate player ratings on top of everything else. It's hard to be pulling for a guy to get the job, when he has ratings like Kerry Meier at...

Speed - 85.
Throw Power - 88.
Short Accuracy - 83.
Short Medium - 77.
Deep Ball - 70.
Carrying - 73.

Using those ratings, I might as well switch that stud over at QB, and be the next Mike Vick. Hell, I'm not even sure why Atlanta drafted him at WR, since out there somewhere, is a scouting report that tells us he's going to be this good at QB.

Using your system, it just seems to me, that every quarterback in the game, would be on the same level as the handful of great ones that we actually have. I could literally turn Kerry Meier into Mike Vick, if I used your system, and switched the guy back at QB. So, again, not meant as a flame, I'll hope that doesn't happen.

Good luck.

Re: My worst fears confirmed.

I spent 3-4 hours today re rating all the players on the Eagles and Seahawks off the website. I wanted to see for myself how these played out in the game. As I was copying all the players and re rating I came across some things that I thought were questionable. BUT, when you play the game it all comes together. Was it time consuming and annoying to have to re rate every player on each team? Yes, but the end result was well worth it.

I think people don't understand a stretched out ratings system. They are all used to 99's being everywhere and wild. But, when you take all the lower ratings and stretch them out then you get a better playing game. The agility and speed and accel are all down so you can't keep qb power up because it wouldn't play out right. You have to look at it as a whole and before you knock the guy or his ratings I suggest you try them out first and then talk about the ratings. Until then take a hike!

Thanks for all your hard work! Great research and results and it's like a brand new madden game. All I want to know is when will you have these rosters downloadable if ever? If not I got 2 teams down and 32 to go. OH BOY!

Fair enough - I'll use his ratings for two different teams, and use Kerry Meier at Quarterback, to see how it plays out. You want the stats via PM?
