I had this issue the first few hours I played, then it stopped. I just assumed I had adjusted how I pushed X to fix it, believe I was tapping it too lightly/not squarely but idk, haven't come across it since. It did feel odd though because selecting a play/starting a kick/everything else you used X for was fine, just that second X on kickoffs/punts wasn't registering.
Although... that same night when I stopped noticing it, at some point I started using custom sliders... /shrug
