Desperately looking for an answer to this so i can start my franchise!

Unfortunately they are generated every year. In-fact it gets worse after year 1.

With the current rosters most teams need to generate 6-7 fake UDFA's in order to achieve having a 75 man roster for preseason.

However after year 1, each teem needs to generate a dozen or more fake UDFA's to achieve having a 75 man roster. (because they have 53 and draft 7 just before the fakes are created.)

As more are created and retained with each passing year it quickly turns into a situation where most teams constantly have 10-15 fake UDFA's on their regular roster at all times.


Basically in short:

It causes a mess with the AI. Year after year the CPU cuts REAL or DRAFTED players with genuine A & B potential to keep these faked/generated UDFA's because their OVR is seen as "90?" (Even though they are actually 40-50 OVR with D potential.)

Its a terrible system, a system EA should have clearly seen was not functioning as intended. And now EA has fudged up Offline Franchise the year in which they were supposed to finally "improve" it for us.

They should patch it so the CPU can just see players true OVR's while cutting guys instead of the overated "?" guesses. That would at least band-aid the issue till they can fix it next year.

But as it is... this is a terrible terrible system.

I just want to let you know that I have simmed/managed one team 10 seasons in on the 360. I guess almost despite itself, the league as a whole is filled with talent. In year 10, there are six 99 rated players vs five on the default roster. Also, there are 175 90+ rated players vs 145 on the default. So it looks like there has been a little inflation in 90 OVR to the tune of one per team. As a whole, the highest rated team was a 89 OVR and the lowest was a 82.

The only remaining starting QB's from the default roster are M.Ryan, A.Rodgers and C. Newton...To me that seems plausible since how many actually starting QB's are still starter from 2001. All-in-all, i think the franchise mode is more than playable, but I could see how UNFA could mess people up straving for a dead perfect roster.

Why not just have those guys in the draft class instead ofbeing randomly generated??? It would be more immersive the other way...Also college stats would be cool to (NFL 2k5 had that even tho the stats were terribly inflated lol)

Because that would make too much sense. It would be nice too if the user was allowed to choose who they invited. Better yet, it would have been better if this was ONLY far user teams and the CPU didn't have UDFA. To a User, you feel there's risk involved with keeping these guys, CPU uses no logic at all so there's no reason from CPU teams to even have these guys on a roster.
