Bingo! At this stage of the game, it's time to be blown away.

Re: The Madden Reception - Happens Every Year

Not being a negative person because I actually play this year's Madden more than I did last year...probably because my love for football more than anything. A few things that bother me about Madden this year that I can only PRAY that they fix with the patch

- Play Action bug: The fact that you can't get the ball off when there is a blitz completely changes the way the game is played for me...FRUSTRATING!

- NOT being able to thread the needle: It's either a lob or a bullet pass. Take the 40 inch vertical side jump away from the defense.

- Also another thing that they should look at is a quicker release for QB's.

I know the license was extended a couple of years ago but does anyone know for how long? The fact that every year EA adds on paying features is a slap in the consumers face. Get the engine correct before you force people to pay for features that should be included in the game

CONSPIRACY THEORY: If they kept improving the game from year to year and gave us everything we want then in a few years they'd create the perfect football game and anything after that would just be a roster update.

They have to take stuff out and break other things in order for us to keep buying the game from year to year.

The license was only extended for one year, which may be a sign that EA is finding a hard time justifying this hefty licensing fee. They sold more when they didn't have it. If they still wanted it, why not extend it for more than one year ?Usually when a company looks to extend a contract, they do it the year before it runs out. The first deal ran through 2009 ,meaning 2009 was the last year of the deal, and they renewed it on February 12 of 2008. This year, they renewed the deal again (with one year left) on February 14, but only for one year. Maybe this is wishful thinking, but I don't see why they wouldn't extend for multiple years (this year) if they originally intended on keeping the exclusive license for multiple years after 2012.

An NFL owner did say that the NFL wanted to give EA a break this year, because of the lockout, but they (the NFL) also wanted to secure something on the back end. Well, if the NFL wanted something on the backend, and EA was actually interested in renewing the deal for multiple years, why not ask for multiple years on the back end ? Maybe the NFL did try to negotiate a multiple year extension and EA declined.

Wow, that's pretty good info.

But to the OP, unless the exclusive license ends we will get more of the same. Of course we are excited at the beginning when we first open up the game b/c its a new game and the real life excitement of a new NFL season kinda runs over into the world of Madden (to Madden't benefit, of course). But after a few weeks, the game always ends up being exposed for what it is.
