Bengals are the Best-Worst Team in Madden History

From a Franchise perspective, the Bengals are the best-worst team in Madden history.

They role in at a 71 OVR team rating (season starting rosters), and are the lowest rated team in the game.

In Franchise, however, they are loaded with potential. Here are some of the notable young players that are the future of the Bengals.

OFFENSE

QB- Andy Dalton (71 OVR) A

HB- Cedric Benson (81 OVR) B (Only about 2 seasons left, 28 years old)
HB- Bernard Scott (75 OVR) B

WR- A.J. Green (80 OVR) A
WR- Jordan Shipley (74 OVR) A
WR- Jerome Simpson (74 OVR) A

TE- Jermain Gresham (80 OVR) A

LT- Andrew Whitworth (85 OVR) B (not that young at 29, but has 3-4 more quality years as a lineman)
RT- Andre Smith (76 OVR) B

DEFENSE

LE- Carlos Dunlap (84 OVR) A
RE- Michael Johnson (80 OVR) B

DT- Domata Peko (84 OVR) B
DT- Geno Atkins (72 OVR) B

LOLB- Dontay Moch (59 OVR) B
MLB- Rey Maualuga (83 OVR) A
ROLB- Keith Rivers (84 OVR) A

CB- Leon Hall (90 OVR) A
SS- Taylor Mays (71 OVR) B

Offense
- QB of the future
- Trio of WRs that will progress nicely
- Future Star at TE
- Two tackles that excel at run blocking

Defense
- Two speed rushers at DE
- Serviceable young DTs
- Trio of athletic linebackers
- One shutdown corner
- Hard hitting strong safety

Areas that could use an upgrade
- RB for the future
- O-linemen
- Possibly DTs
- Corner opposite of Hall
- Safety

Spoken like a true Bungles fan lol, but hey who am I to talk. I'm a Knicks fan!

Seriously though your argument is valid.

Re: Bengals are the Best-Worst Team in Madden History

i do agree the Bungles have some young, promising pieces....Not the biggest Dalton guy but he's a def upgrade from Gradkowski....sky's the limit on A.J....i wanna see how Simpson does this year before i declare him a given....Shipley's the prototypical slot guy...Gresham shudd be a future star indeed if he can stay injury-free....O-line can get by for 1-2 years but i'd start planning ahead...Dunlap has immense potential and should evolve into a star sooner then later....need to see more of Johnson on the other side....not overly excited about their DT'S....servicable but nothing to get too excited about.....solid, young linebackers who will continue to get better...good job resigning Hall...i can't stand Clements so an obvious draft pick and/or solid FA signing should be invested here...everybody on here is high on Mays but im wondering if that's a byproduct of what he did in colege but i am curious on how he would do if he was given a consistent role....IMO, they'll endure some growing pains for a year or two but they should be contenders after that

Sure, they have potential... but it's up to the user if they meet it.

Re: Bengals are the Best-Worst Team in Madden History

Yea, this team definitely takes some time, in the 1st year I just played the division games and simmed the rest went 5-11. Drafted another shutdown CB 81 OVR (A) to pair with Hall, replacement HB 81 OVR (B) for Benson and a RT 76 OVR (A). 2nd year 8-8. The great thing about young teams is they have HUGE CAP $$$ so I picked up a veteran C (88 OVR) in FA then drafted RE 76 OVR (A) to pair with Dunlap a replacement RG 85 OVR (A) for B. Williams and filled the whole at LOLB 83 OVR (B). Team OVR was a 71 now 84. In 3 years:

QB- Andy Dalton
(71 OVR) A (85 OVR)

HB- Cedric Benson (81 OVR) B (CUT)
HB- Bernard Scott (75 OVR) B (CUT)

WR- A.J. Green (80 OVR) A (95 OVR) "Go To Guy" "Offensive Playmaker" etc..
WR- Jordan Shipley (74 OVR) A (81 OVR. CUT) too expensive.
WR- Jerome Simpson (74 OVR) A (73 OVR)

TE- Jermain Gresham (80 OVR) A (88 OVR) Same as A.J.

LT- Andrew Whitworth (85 OVR) B (86 OVR)

RT- Andre Smith
(76 OVR) B (cap eater) cutting at the end of season.

DEFENSE

LE- Carlos Dunlap (84 OVR) A (91 OVR) BEAST.
RE- Michael Johnson (80 OVR) B (CUT) garbage. And too expensive.

DT- Domata Peko (84 OVR) B (86 OVR)
DT- Geno Atkins (72 OVR) B (76 OVR)

LOLB- Dontay Moch (59 OVR) B (65 OVR)
MLB- Rey Maualuga (83 OVR) A (82 OVR)
ROLB- Keith Rivers (84 OVR) A (85 OVR)

CB- Leon Hall (90 OVR) A (91 OVR)
SS- Taylor Mays (71 OVR) B (76 OVR)

If EA would figure out how to get the LB's to get the majority of the tackles on D for once, Keith and Rey would progress right and I'd feel alot better about resigning these guys at the end of the year. The team I have now should make the playoffs this year and once I get the hole at FS covered, DOMINATION.

Jerome Simpson has no business having an A potential.
