Yep, add me to this AARP group that grew up with Mattel hand held football (and the sequal Football II which had PASSING!!!), electric football, Paydirt (dice & cards game), Atari and then on up. We had to use our imagination back then, which ironically made the games more realistic. I would gladly take my imagined commentary in electric football over Gus Johnson in Madden 12 any day.
While I do have my share of complaints and suggestions for the current generation of games, I periodically stop myself and ask "If I had a flux capicitor and sent this game back to 1985, how much would I have enjoyed it"?......It isn't easy, but if you can go in with the mindset we had back then, games are very enjoyable.
