Re: Toughest team to rebuild without their key player?

Panthers without Newton? So I guess Beason and Steve Smith and others aren't some of the leagues best players? The Panthers had the number one pick in the draft because their QB play was THAT bad last year. The team wasn't that bad. We are not talking 0-16 Lions bad, where they had to build from nothing [except Megatron.]

Next, the Vikings ithout Peterson? So apparently they don't have oneof the league's best pass rushers or one of the two Williams of "The Williams Wall" still on their team? The Vikings fell apart after the NFC Championship game two years ago thanks in part to age, and not just from Favre, but AP isn't their only star. They also have franchise QB hopeful QB C. Ponder.

As far as really bad teams, let's take a look:

NFC West
49ers - No.
Rams - Maybe. Jackson and Bradford and now Llyod as a weapon
Cardinals - After Leaping Larry they also have rookie PP7 but that's about it.
Seahawks - Aaron Curry is good, but other than him, nothing special.

NFC East
Cowboys - No.
Eagles - No!
Giants - No.
Redskins - a big yes

NFC South
Saints - No.
Panthers - Not really.
Buccs - Nope
Falcons - No.

NFC North
Packers - HA! No.
Bears - Nope
Lions - No.
Vikings - Not to me.

So, in the NFC, I see 4 teams: Cards, Rams, Seahawks, and Redskins. For the Cardinals, you could just cut Larry and send him to team that could really use him. Imagine Arizona was unable to make a deal after the lockout ended unlike real life.

Now let's take a look at the AFC

AFC West
Raiders - Not really.
Chargers - No
Broncos - Their D is really good. They are making Tebow look good and not getting any credit.
Chiefs - eh, maybe but no. I think they are overachieving-ish.

AFC East
Patriots - Not really. After Brady, they have two talented TEs, Welker, Wilfork, Mayo, and McCourty
Jets - No.
Dolphins - maybe, but no. After Marshall, and Vonte Davis I don't know.
Bills - I think Yes, despite their early start. No Stevie Johnson?

AFC South
Colts - Well, look at real life. Freeny/Mathis and Wayne are good though.
Jags - MJD... and who?
Titans - C2k vanished in real life but they are still winning games
Texans - #1 defense in the NFL this year. No.

AFC North
Steelers - No
Ravens - No
Bungles - Kinda Maybe.
Browns - Yes.

So, from the AFC I have a lot of maybes, which I don't think is good enough. There are a lot of below average teams, but there aren't many really bad teams. The Browns and Bills aren't very good teams in my opinion, so they are good candidates.

So, with the NFC and the AFC, my list looks like this [in no specific order]:

Browns, Bills, Redskins and the entire NFC West not named SF.

I am trying to rebuild the Browns in my Franchise, I traded away Peyton Hillis.
Check it out in my signature.
Leave some feedback.

This is easy. Indianapolis Colts without Peyton Manning. Play the first season with Collins, Painter, or Orvlosky. Now that is a challenge. Their defense is average and is prone to give up a lot of points.

Re: Toughest team to rebuild without their key player?

The first team that jumped to mind was Seattle.

I am partial, of course.

As far as a key player, the closest one I can think of is Marshawn Lynch or Earl Thomas. I would choose Lynch simply because Earl Thomas is a beast and when you pair him up with Kam Chancellor, you've got one of the youngest and most talented safety corps in the league.

You've got massive holes at RB to fill with Lynch gone, as well as the quarterback position and the offensive line. I am currently running a Seattle franchise and it's not easy. Tarvaris Jackson went down in the opener with an upper arm fracture. Whitehurst was terrible so I limped through a couple of games with Josh Portis. He's kind of an intriguing talent. B potential, very good speed, strong arm, accuracy issues.

The defense is actually pretty good. The defensive line has some nice pieces. At LB, you have some good players. Hawthorne, while not spectacular, is a very solid MLB. K.J. Wright is a decent looking rookie and Leroy Hill is pretty good. The secondary is extremely young but talented. The corners are shaky, but again, they're young.

Use a draft class, scout a QB (I am currently scouting Barkley, Landry Jones and RG3), offensive lineman and defensive lineman. Trade Lynch for some picks (you might be able to squeeze a second rounder out of someone).

Another option, and one that I've thought about, is the Bills, Broncos or Titans. You could unload Chris Johnson or Kenny Britt for the Titans and see what Jake Locker is made of at QB. For the Bills (LOVE the uniforms) you could trade Fred Jackson or Stevie Johnson... and for the Broncos, you could unload McGehee or Von Miller (that would be tough). I'd keep Tebow and see if you could turn him into a good QB.

The Redskins have one of the best defences in the league/game and some really talented o-linemen. Dont understand why people say they have "no one".

I think it is because in Madden, defense means little more most people. O-Line/D-Line interaction has been shown to have major issues.

IMO, as far as skill positions go, they are weak.
