Ehh, I personally would rather buy the hardcopy of a game than buy a digital download.

As much as I love the concept of all digital games I think this will fail miserably. There are many gamers out there who can't afford to pay full price on every game and all digital eliminates the used gaming market.

That being said, if they offer the games at a nice discount, say $45 bucks instead of the normal $60, then maybe it would be ok.

Also then, wouldn't Microsoft have full power over the prices of games? Since it's not like Target would be able to have a sale on games you buy off of the Xbox Arcade and such.

Or will the game companies have power to put their games on sale and such.

Don't care much for the disc-less thing either, but it seems to be the way entertainment is going. Most producers of media content, whether you're talking movies, games, music, books, are trying to create models to deliver things digitally. Even my credit card people are getting more resistant to sending me a paper statement.

This is a pretty seismic move for Microsoft to make, because it's all but cutting the balls off of brick and mortar merchants, and even slicing into some online retailers. I'm sure you'll be able to walk into a store and buy an access card for the game like you can for xbox live, but how many people are going to bother?

Also, I believe the game companies get that revenue from the initial copies of discs shipped to a store, whether they are sold or not. Not 100% sure about that could cut into their bottom line.

I don't know how credible this is, but connecting the dots, it looks like EA, with the online pass, and some Peter Moore's statements have been planning for this and are ahead of the curve.

I've been following this closely for months, and this isn't a confirmation. Microsoft has said nothing, and the source is anonymous. Nothing has been confirmed yet, and this is the third or fourth different "confirmed" rumor I've seen since January.

I'm not saying it won't prove to be true, but it's still a rumor.
