Re: Madden vs Real Football

In Madden, you can always start over and there isn't that much at steak, like it is in real football. If a person is injured in real football there isn't any turning back, they're out for as long as they're need to be.

But I can see why people take Madden seriously. Although, some people look at it as a game, others look at it as competition and they play like it's real football. But for someone like myself that's not an avid player of the sport it's a bit hard to say. But I'll take real football any day.

I think there are a few factors with the 4th down issue. As others have mentioned, I also believe that NFL coaches tend to be overly conservative due to the culture of fans and the media...(but that conversation is probably a thread of its own). But the other issue is that video games football games (just speaking generally here...not M12 specific) tend to be more offensive that their real life counterpart. So from a pure percentages standpoint, it can be a correct strategic decision. Not only are my chances of converting higher than they should be, but the chances of stopping my opponent is also small....so I don't really get much out of the punt. Again, I am speaking in general terms here.....I have sliders slanted to the defense, so punting tends to be a good choice for me.
