Browns fans know about bad picks.

He has all but named the starter. He is currently getting all of the first team reps and has been called "the most game ready rookie qb" that holmgren has ever coached.

The answer seems pretty obvious to me. Create Brandon Weeden in front of your franchise or "connected careers." You can even use the face import if you're a perfectionist. Then sim a season, "retire," comeback as the Browns coach, and your 22 or 23 year old Brandon Weeden will be there. I believe this is how it'll work.

That's what I plan to do with Troy Aikman at least for a handful of seasons in my connected career.

A lot of outlets are saying that Weeden wants to have his career parallel that of Kurt Warner. Warner was a Franchise QB until his last season; and I don't think he regressed that much over the course of his career as a QB that started in his late 20s, early 30s.
Kurt Warner absolutely regressed. Did you ever see his time with the Giants? Or his last year or so in St. Louis? It wasn't until he got Boldin and Fitzgerald that he had a resurgence.

Just because he -wants- that career doesn't mean he'll have it.

I don't see a problem with him regressing after a few years. Although I don't see why he'd have to be limited to just 5 years or so. Jeff Garcia I believe was roughly the same age coming into the league, and he had probably 7 good years in the league - 5 in San Francisco, one half one in Philadelphia, and a year or 2 of success in Tampa Bay.

If you create a player and then retire that player gets deleted from your career

Older players should also progress in some areas as well. The QB might lose arm strength but gain awareness and accuracy. A linebacker will lose speed but gain pursuit and play recognition.

As it has been said many times, "Sure that kid is young, but can he play?!?"
