I dont even think EA would argue they need the movie or Ads will directly contribute to an extra feature.

Madden is doing just fine financially im sure of it.

I dont mind the dorito player of the game either or remember the swagger stat :P

The gem will be 60 dollars regardless of what ads they put in the game. It's made for the casual gamers now, not for the hardcore fans they have. It's all about how much they can profit from every year now.

I guess this is where I am different then some because I think ads are a great idea and can add to the immersion if implemented well. Like JMurphy said, having sponsors for the player of game, halftime stats, challenge, etc with nice graphical overlays adds to the broadcast feel, imo.

They could also add "this game brought to you by..." at the beginning and end of games, using various graphical overlays with a voice over, rotating different companies in online. If they add in Spectator Mode with one video add before watching someone's game and another video ad when exiting out, that revenue stream might pay for that new mode in no time.

I never understood, like ODogg stated, why EA doesn't focus on seamless advertising like that to increase revenue which would hopefully lead to increased funding for development and less need for "gimmicky" revenue modes like MUT.

Actually they would make that argument and its true. Ads help pay for production costs and the addition of new team members.

They don't keep the game prices down... If there were no ads at all Ea couldn't charge more for the game. The only benefit to in game ads is to EA.

How many things has EA implemented well?

I think it's funny that the NFL is sponsored by beer companies, but they want to kep a clean image with no tattoos and I am SURE we won't see a Coors Light or who ever is the official sponsor of the NFL in Madden.

Ads aren't what would get me immersed in the game, though. I mean they already have the Gatorade stuff and the Verizon Red Zone - doesn't really make me feel more immersed into M12.

Why would it? Why wouldn't EA just keep both? It's just like the "keep the price of the game down" argument - did the game get cheaper when the ads came in?
