Infinty Engine Question

Is it only to make players move realistically and what not, OR will it take ratings into consideration so we'll feel the difference between running with Darren Sproles as compared to Peyton Hillis.

Re: Infinty Engine Question

Not sure what you mean by "feeling" the difference.

Personally I think the engine is way over hyped. "Physics" (or really momentum transfer) engines make for cool animations when objects collide. You get fresh animations on the fly.

But as far as what the players are physically capable of doing... be it running speed, agility, jumping, how they run and react to routes, tackling ability... that's all still going to be rating driven. So in that respect it's really no different than what we have now. Just means you won't see the same animation twice and things will look more realistic when people collide.

IMO, when players collide and go down the play is already over. Everything leading up until that point - e.g. the route running, OL/DL interaction, etc.. is what makes or breaks the play and I don't see the Infinity engine having much impact there.

Re: Infinty Engine Question

I think this engine is step one in what they're trying to acomplish to making the game as realistic as possible. They're going in the right direction. I like this engine because every movement of a player is accounted for. In the past you'd see players just hovering over other players waiting for the tackler to be done with their animation. Now every player is interacted. You can interact with other animations that couldn't do in the past Maddens. It needs a lot of work and fine tuning but I think they have the right mind set.
