My time posting on message boards has taught me one thing. The longer a debate goes the more likely it is that the discussion will end unpleasantly. you and I actually seem quite similar when it comes to what we want from a football game. And I think both of us have been disappointed in the past. You could argue that past Maddens have lowered my standards while yours remains high and that may be a valid argument. But read the first post I quoted (not yours, the other guy's). You would think the concept of a franchise mode was removed from the game. CC is franchise mode. Sure some things were removed, but many more were added. That is why I don't understand the talk about EA abandoning offline franchise players. And then I come to these boards and every other thread is whining about CC (okay that was hyperbole )

All things considered, I'm happy with CC. It is a hell of a lot better than the old franchise mode.

However, for the first time (tomorrow) I will be asking for a refund for the game. I am an Offline user. The game as it stands now is "offline unuseable". It may come of a surprise to many of the "Madden Crowd,'" but there are some of us "freaks" out there who wish to simply play a season using FRANCHISE MODE (OFFLINE)by playing random games, editing rosters (Fantasy Drafts) etc and do not choose to play 16 year old "Stevo" online who runs the same running play and onside kicks throughout the game .The current game of MADDEN13 does not allow us to do this. ( No...Coach Mode is NOT the same as Franchise Mode in Madden12!) I will return it for an exchange of NBA2k13 . Rumor...EA NHL13 may have the same non-franchise mode. I hope that I am wrong.....
Johnny I am 33 and completely agree. Luckily i read the comments here first and went and burned the game to play on my other xbox, the hacked one just to confirm what everyone is saying. There is no game here for offline players, and this is coming from a highly ranked online player. I like online, but i LOVE offline way more.

No fantasy draft, no edit, no draft import... means no buy for me for the first time ever.

I have owned every simulation football game ever made since Super playaction football on SNES, for every console actually, and this will be the first time I have not bought one, and its just plain disappointing.

I would gladly take the same gameplay year after year if it meant having a real GM ability to run and pick my own team.

To be fair, I'm liking most of the game, except for a few problems that really should have been caught. However, fantasy drafts have been a staple of every franchise mode for a LONG way back now. I get why its out with the immersion factor and the storylines, but there are people who could care less. They want to make their own story.

no player edits -- this for me is big. Not because of equipment or anything cosmetic though. I want to be able to change positions. After Ray Lewis retires I would like to switch to a 4-3 but I can't because I can't do things like move Ngata to a DT. This hurts the "be the coach of the team" aspect
hopefully it will be patched in, but I think we will have to wait until next year.
Not being able to edit means you are stuck with how EA has the rosters set. Good luck getting Tavaris Jackson on the Bills unless you want to start over once the season starts, for example. You want to play the real NFL, right now you can't, because they took out your ability to do minor changes to rosters. [/quote]

no 2 player CC -- Well this is wrong obviously. If you mean two offline players sharing a console, I don't know how to say this nicely but...its 2012 get online. All things considered, a very small percentage of players did this anyway. It was not worth the problems.

no multi-team control -- This defeats the whole purpose of a franchise mode anyway. The purpose should be to control a team and compete against other teams.
Seriously? So, instead of going to a friend's house and actually being social, you'll only play online? Now, my friend and I used to just swing two controllers over to the same team and play QB/RB -- but I can definitely see two young brothers being mad because they can't play two teams in the same franchise. If they've only got one PS3, face it -- they are screwed, and that could be young kids.

I am happy, I really am -- but to trumpet that its perfect is a little blase.

In all seriousness GG, why do you think it's better? Please don't say twitter, or the presentation because that is all fluff and meaningless. The content is the control of your team. Which you have none now. I really would like to hear why you think CC is better than what has always been the best franchise mode in any game, hence it being in every other EA sports game.

Thats what real football is all about. We live in the age of free agency liking one "real" team is for the 1960's. I like players, coaches, and schemes thats how i choose the real teams i like. Not cause i live in a city and have a team that plays there. Those players do not care about the city or the people in it, they care about the money, coach, and scheme they will play in. So yes its 2012 you should try thinking like it.

I can't see how you can play this game for even 2 months without running/creating a franchise and drafting imported real players from ncaa.

As for not many people doing multiple franchises on one console, you are absolutely insane. I know more madden players that do that than don't and we have all been playing madden since the day the first version was released. You could even do it on 2k versions. On sundays during the season we get 10 guys together and draft our franchises on 1 console and play out the season every week as we watch live games, then draft real college players off ncaa. This is only reason to keep playing madden all year round. I get tired of beating everyone online, im bored of being undefeated by week 3 of the real season.
Tell me this, did importing players over from NCAA ( a feature I myself used) ever work properly or were there bugs involved?

Thinking like it is 2012. That is cute. Cause no has favorite teams anymore. Right.

and it is amusing to me that in the first paragraph you speak of schemes and getting players that fit your scheme. Tell me did previous Maddens do this? Did each coach/GM draft to their scheme or sign FA that fit? Yet that was one of the first things you mentioned (what football is really about as you put it) so I am assuming it is important to you.

Stop acting as if this Madden is an attack on football fans.

I don't agree with this. Iirc they said that the coding for ccm is completely new. They didn't remove features; they just didn't add in old ones due to whatever circumstances. I'm not trying to make an excuse, I just like to be factual.

And for the record, I like fixed ratings, but no position swapping is killing me.

Ok isn't the OP asking if this thread comment is for real? Has anyone answered that question?

I'm going to venture a guess and say "no.". The voice /tone sounds like a person faking being a dev. I doubt EA devs would be talking about an apologizing for a brand new mode 2 after release and calling it a "reboot."

I don't see the original post on their forums though so it may be someone - I'm just guessing no.

I understand that many people love fantasy draft and I have stated as much. It just does not matter to me. I understand why they like it and there is an allure to building your own team from the ground up. But here is my thing: in years past I would come on to this site and the Madden threads. Rarely did I see threads along the lines of "who did you take in your fantasy draft." Usually I saw threads like "hows your franchise going" and by and large most of those had people reporting on the real teams and what minor changes they made. Now that FD is out, its the biggest feature ever? (my friend from earlier can point out the hyperbole here

I agree completely with the roster edits. There are two sides to it. One -- I have to start with EA's roster and the second is not being able to make edits once I start. I focused on the latter but was just as unhappy with the former. In this I don't defend EA. But we knew about this for a while.

when I play friends I do it in play now. This may surprise you but I never play online. I am a strict offline franchise player. Offline CC is playable and enjoyable. This outrage over EA neglecting offline CC is without merit.

I am liking the game but I am definitely not acting as if it were perfect. Even the post of mine that you quoted had me agreeing thatsome parts upset me.
