Is CCM Player XP Messed Up?

Has anyone else noticed that when you use XP for a player on your team, while controlling a head coach, that at the end of the season their ratings go right back to where they were on default?

I have Tim Tebow on my team and I started with him at a 78, and have seen him all the ways up to an 81 at one point, then next season back to 78.

Does the overall rating just fluctuate during the season?

I also had Christian Ponder at one point in another CCM at back up rated a 76, before a pre-season game I made him the starter so I could get him some XP, and on the depth chart in game he was an 80. After the game...right back to 76.

What is this?
