Negative cap space when re-signing?

When resigning players in my online ccm, it says I have negative cap space of 5 million and I cannot resign anyone. But when I go to the team salaries section, or free agent list, even trade section, it says I have a cap space of 7.74 million.

Is the resigning section showing next year's cap space so that's why it's different?

My guess is that you're negative because of the rookie reserve salaries. Same thing happened to me when I hoarded a bunch of 1st round picks one year.

Errr, you might actually be right in that it is showing you your salaries for next season. My issue came during the offseason and since you're looking at free agents, I'm guessing you're not in the offseason.
