This is a simulation engine we're talking about here. It's not that complicated.

There's no reason why they shouldn't be able to get the correct amount of plays, along with realistic averages, etc.

I'm not saying the total problem is complicated to fix. The calls for simply lowering the number of plays per game will not fix it. That was my point.

And I would say it is likely more complicated then people give it credit.

Not sorted by YPA, but you get the idea.

Re: Open question to EA... Simulation statistics?

So lets use Tom Brady for our first example (further analysis will come as I can get time to do statistical analysis).

Tom Brady 2011
5235 Yards 39 TD's 8.6 YPA 611 Attempts

Tom Brady from sim
4652 Yards 40 TD's 7.4 YPA 639 Attempts

So lets say that we reduce the total number of plays per game from 180 to 120. Applying that to the sim stats means that

Tom Brady "fixed" sim
3103 Yards 27 TD's 7.4 YPA 427 Attempts

This total would be Brady's worst statistical season since his rookie year where he only played 14 games. 50 attempts less then he has ever attempted in a season before.

There are multiple reasons for this. YPA being the biggest one, run pass ratio for teams being another. I must also remind you of how the goals work for QB's in Madden 13. 3100 yards will not gain any more than 500 XP points at the end of the year and will be considered a failure by all but the worst (least expectation) QB's in the league. So reducing the plays in such a way will make the progression for the CPU problem worse then it has been already if that is the only change made.

ive seen some inflated offensive stats. I had a couple 60 point games and a lot of college like scores 45-41, 47-38, stuff like that. of course I am not analyzing it as in depth as u guys. it was just weird to me that I had a couple of 60 point games when I haven't seen a 60 point game in the NFL, well, I can't remember ever seeing one.

I agree with steam that correcting the number of plays will cause more problems but something needs to be done. To much scoring going on. The stats posted by rspencer 5 teams gave up 500 points. Only one team came close in the real nfl season last year. On madden a lot of teams come close. The least was 372. In comparison in the 2011 nfl season the lowest was 227.

Somethings wrong and ea not acknowledging it we are probably just wasting time typing. I see college football scores every time I sim. I just don't see how this gets past testers. Some stats are ok that's why messing with total plays will mess something else up. I'm a simmer so I cant play half nfl half college. I seen a game where the score was 66 to 52

how i see it now, sim stats and stick arms are the biggest remaining issues in madden 13.

Has anyone noticed less plays happening per game in the sim engine?

I think the problem lies with backups.
