How did Madden NFL 13 get an 8.5 rating here?

idk if this is a legit question to ask and im sorry if it isnt but this one baffles me still. how could this years madden end up getting such a good rating on the OS review. i mean i feel like i can usually very much rely on all the reviews here.

now i dont find madden 13 as terrible as some here and id say its still a solid game that does a lot of things right but an 8.5 rating, seriously? considering all the flaws the game has.

Wow 8.5 haha.

My DT still has skinny arms in my online league... The original patch took 2 months to happen, and that patch still needs a patch, I had to wait a stupid amount of time to start my CCM, for the life of me I can't run the ball, speaking of running the ball, my HB goes into some Blair witch animation sometimes... Haha 8.5 smh.

The game is okay, for them having to do something extremely drastic because the direction they were going in wasn't working, this game is pretty cool. It's only the first year so I expect bumps and bruises but 8.5 to me is way to high. 7 sounds fair.

OS wasn't the Lone Ranger in giving out decent grades, others had it 9.0 or higher.

It's easy to sit back and state after 2.5 months of playing a game that it deserves such and such a mark, not the 8.5 the site gave out trying to make a deadline for the public.

I still can't tell if this is supposed to be a thread pointing out Madden's flaws or flaws in OS' review system.

In any event, shouldn't the review itself give you some insight into why the reviewer rated the game the way he did?

I don't have a problem with giving it an 8.5 at all. It's the best Madden in years and a great base for the series going forward. I'd probably rate it .5 lower just because it's the first major overhaul of the series in a long time so there were of course kinks that need to be worked out but they should and the game should only get better.

Any time a site has some kind of access or relationship to the game devs (like the devs posting here and the gamechangers) the review of said game will always be inflated. This game wasn't an 8.5 out of the box and it isn't now. When '14 comes out......read the OS review....and then cut 1-2 points from it. Game reviewing is about like movie reviews these days.....if it's not user reviews then it's biased and maybe bought and paid for.
