How to develop backup QBs

Hey guys I was wondering if someone could tell me the best way to develop a backup qb. I like josh Portis's skill set but he never gains any xp. How do I make him good? Thanks in advance for any help

Buy the QB XP boost with coach points, and play the backup QB in practice mode every week. Maybe give him a few snaps during games.

Play "Easy Win" practice mode. You play 3 5 minute quarters and all you have to do is win. If you win, all players get 1,500 XP.

You don't need to start him in practice mode for him to receive XP.

I wonder what the AI's strategy is with practices? I feel like doing the 'easy win' scenario week in and week out would progress your team at a faster rate than the CPU controlled teams.

I do "3rd Quarter Tie" just about every week. Instead of 1,500XP for 3 quarters, it's 1,000XP for 2.

With practice, I get a few players with 50,000+ XP at the end of the year. Most of my other starters have 36-45k while backups have 20-25k. Seems reasonable. I also save all XP until each off-season before upgrading.

Give him some snaps when you get a lead in games.

Re: How to develop backup QBs

am i doing wrong doing the 1250xps for 10 point lead then? ive also tended to put change depth to backups thinking that helped. does the whole roster get points then after update 3?
