WOW, and Im getting tired of keep asking why LB doesn't have a main role for gameplay for EA Tiburon yet?? I agree with what he said. LB, how would you compare Madden to All Pro 2k8. I know it's off-topic but it's good to compare games so you can realize one's potential. I struggle with picking which game to play: Madden for rosters or All Pro for gameplay. BRAVO for your post!!

Re: How did Madden NFL 13 get an 8.5 rating here?

Hey friends, figured I'd throw my two cents in here as someone that gave the game a pretty decent review.

Based on our review scale at Joystiq, I gave it four stars, which (to be very specific) would indicate that "if you like this type of game at all, you'll want to play it." I actually still agree with my score, even though I'm pretty vocal about the things I detest in this game.

A few things should be said. I've talked endlessly about reviews and criticism. People get pretty hot about it, which is great (it's sincerely awesome that people care about this stuff). Reviews are a window into one person's experience with a game. They should not attempt to be "objective" (that's just silly and impossible), but they should do their best to give folks a glimpse into how their experience was with a game.

So, I played Madden 13 for a ridiculous amount of time, long enough for the "new game feeling" to totally wear off. Even so, I totally agree that your experience will change as a game gets older, patches release... or don't release. It's something Owen and I talked about on Press Row, and is a topic that needs to keep coming up.

Frankly, we need to get reviews out as soon as we can on our end. The closer to a game's launch, the better it is. It's just how it works.

All that said, my four stars "equates" to 8/10, and it's a score I'm pretty happy with. The infinity engine and CCM upgrades, while ugly at times, really push the ball forward in a more noteworthy way. I absolutely love passing the ball in this game, but zone coverage needs a lot of help as well.

A perfect score doesn't equate to a perfect game, though. Just remember that! At least it shouldn't!

Oh, another thing: As far as I understand, we should expect more title updates and tuner sets. I need to talk with them more about this. Last I'd heard, there were some positive things being said about the game's support, which goes up as the sales go up. As we know, the game sold well this year.

Anyways, yeah, reviews! Scores! Stuff! Games!

That last part is encouraging. The fact that Emmdot is asking about play calling is somewhat encouraging as well.

They'll need to come up with something quickly, half the football season is gone.

Right. I mean, I wouldn't hold out *too* much hope as to any specific things you'd like to see updated. It only makes you more disappointed when it isn't changed.
