OT Attributes (What matters?)

My RT who is 89 overall gets beat in the passing game all the time.

6'1, 330 lbs (age 26).

95 pass block, 82 run block, 86 impact block
94 str, 59 spd, 75 acc, 66 agil, 83 awr

I feel like acc and agility must be really important because even with 95 pass block, he gets beat all the time.

My LT is only 80 overall but doesn't get beat nearly as much.

6'7, 323 lbs (age 24).

87 pass block, 80 run block, 88 impact block
89 strength, 65 speed, 81 acc, 69 agil, 71 awr

Only slightly more spd, acc, agil... but way less pass block / str / awr but he holds his own way better.

I'm considering if its worth it to draft the following player to "upgrade" either tackle position:

6'7, 315 lbs

71 spd, 81 acc, 86 str, 75 agil
85 pass block, 80 run block, 85 impact, 81 awr

More speed, acc, agil, less strength, but I feel like in the passing game the spd/acc/agil combo plays a much bigger role.

What are your thoughts?

In thousands of tests an all 99's OLman performs essentially the same as an all 0's OLman.

The line is the featured change for M14, and it is pretty obvious why.

Re: OT Attributes (What matters?)

Maybe I'm blind but I see differences in my lineman.

ACC is better firing off the ball. A strong guy who's slower doesn't always pull completely. He also can struggle against high ACC DL and shoot through, etc, before the lineman is ready.

AGI seems to be for movement while blocking, especially pass blocking.

RBK/PBK are picking up blocking targets. My LG used to be a sieve vs pass rushers (especially blitzers) until I got his PBK to 80. My 90+ RBK RG almost never misses a block.

The thing about RT is that is where the engine is most noticeably screwed up. It's part of the LE issue (he beats the RT most often). So the RT probably won't play as good as he should. I wonder if high STR would help since STR is (supposedly) the 'how long a block lasts' rating.

I don't know the tests and how they were run so I'm not saying they are lies, but I notice differences in my lineman and they aren't just 99 OVR or 0 OVR (of course, I don't think OVR matters at all).

Absolutely, I am overstating the matter a bit, but I do see at least similar performance from Joe Thomas vs. Blair Walsh at LT.

I think the attributes simply have a far lesser impact on outcome for line interaction.

I agree with KB. If you can't see the difference than it's not set up right.

Is that real info? Verified by EA?

Gosh, I sure hope so!

Re: OT Attributes (What matters?)

Move your RT to LT. Otherwise there is nothing that you can do. There is a glitch in Madden 13, in which the RT will prematurely disengage with the DE/OLB they are blocking. So if you want his numbers to be better move him to LT.

I completely agree with KB here.

I play as the Titans. My guards are terrible and the center isn't much better, but I have two of the best tackles in the league in Roos and Stewart.

ALL of my sacks come through the middle against the guards. Roos never gets beaten, and Stewart does on a rare occasion when it's obvious the messed up LE engine logic takes over.

Even trying to do run plays with a pulling guard is nearly impossible the first year or so. Once I finally draft or sign some guys to plug in to those positions, there is a noticeable difference in both pass and run blocking.
