Players don't like money

I always ty to keep to my own "pretend" cap limit which is $20m under the actual cap. I also have a rule that I never re-sign a guy to a deal that will take him past his 30th birthday, unless he's a QB or a player whose OVR is above 96.

Question how do you all go about signing FAs, and resigning current players? Do you favor higher bonuses? Or lower bonuses but higher overall contract? How do you protect the CAP?

On previous Madden games, I always tried to get rid of the bonus money. That way, if I needed to cut them, there was no dead money.

Now, I tend to leave the bonus alone, and adjust the salary. I find you can normally drop the salary by about 7-10% and still have them sign. The one area that bugs me is when you have a guy who fits your scheme, you offer him more years and/or money and he turns you down.
