Please help me solve an arguement in my CCM

Situation:

Player 1- Has Vick with two years remaining at 14 per year. He cuts Vick and takes a 6 million dollar cap hit. Then he re-signs him for 1 year at 6 million. He saves 2 million and the last year of his contract is canceled.

Player 2- He trades for Rod Gronkowski (with 4 years left on his contract) and cuts him. He then picks him back up and resigns him for 1 year.

Are both owners in the wrong?

I was sent this as an example:

The owner thinks this is fair move because madden doesn't have a system in place to allow you to restructure contracts.

Both are garbage moves.

it depends on the playing style of your league. in my opinion, these are not realistic moves. if you want that, then they're in the wrong. if it's just a fun league that doesn't matter, then well, it doesn't matter.

Both owners are claiming that they are restructuring the players deals and that the cap hits even things out. Since they are signed as Free agents both players can only be signed to one year deals. Their next contracts will be higher than before and you run the risk of him not accepting your contract offer so you will either have them for 1 year only or you can resign them at a higher priced long term contract.

Thank you for responding.

They are cheating you bc they can now offer long term deals which will make up front cheap. I would 100% not allow that in SOS Crew

I agree with them that the cap hit is the price they pay for doing this and there also needs to be some "house rule" applied to account for them not being able to guarantee resigning them. When some friends and I had leagues, if you cut a player, there was like a waiting period imposed before the team that cut them could resign them.

Would make it easier if the Free Agency during the season worked similar to in the offseason and multiple teams could make offers to FA instead of them signing with the first team making an offer.

Would the 2nd contract be cheaper? The Vick owner said he will have to release him because he will be forced to sign Vick to a 5 year deal.

The Gronk owner says that he will end up paying more per year on the next contract on top of paying the cap hit he took.

So do you think they should be able to do this but they should have to let them go to FA the next year?
